  • Worked full-time with Global Voices (see below) throughout this period, but occasionally consulted with various organizations on both paid and volunteer basis

March 2008 – Present: Global Voices – Tech Lead

  • Lead designer, developer, and sysadmin for Global Voices a network of journalism websites built with WordPress.
  • Worked with an international community of contractors and volunteers to build an accessible and localized platform.
  • Coded new features, plugins, and themes for dozens of sites throughout the network.
  • Managed adjacent systems and applications, such as email infrastructure, file sharing, chat applications etc.

August 2006 – February 2008: Global Voices – Assistant Code and Design

  • As above, but acting as assistant to a senior developer.

September 2005-May 2006: Communications Studies, Concordia University – Teachers’ Assistant

  • Performed labs and marked assignments for the Introduction to Digital Communication Media class (coms256)
  • Worked with new students to familiarize them with various digital media (Photoshop, XHTML+CSS).
  • Prepared assignments and tutorials.
  • Helped maintain class website (wiki).

  • Bachelors in Communications Studies (Digital Media Specialization) at Concordia University completed in 2006 with 3.9 G.P.A.
  • Graduated from CEGEP John Abbott College, DEC in Creative Arts, Literature and Languages, 2003, maintained Merit Roll (top 10% of class) for three of four semesters.
  • Graduated from Philemon Wright High School in June 2001

  • Learned web development while publishing a daily web comic in 2003
  • Founded the WordCamp Montreal conference and served as an organizer for several years.
